As one of Balıkesir’s rising tourism destinations, the Edremit Gulf is preparing to welcome visitors with new air travel options starting from 1 June. Direct flights from Balıkesir Kocaseyit Airport to Ankara and three cities in Germany will commence, making both domestic and international travel faster and more comfortable.
Ahmet Çetin, Chairman of the Board of Edremit Chamber of Commerce, stated that this development in transport infrastructure will make a significant contribution to regional tourism and the economy. “Direct flights from Kocaseyit Airport to Ankara will operate three times a week. There are already daily flights to Istanbul. With the addition of the capital, our domestic flight capacity is expanding even further,” he said.
Daily Flights from Germany
Throughout the summer season, Kocaseyit Airport will connect Edremit with the German cities of Cologne, Stuttgart, and Düsseldorf through a total of eight flights per week. Çetin noted that these flights are especially popular among Turkish citizens living in Germany and emphasised that interest from European tourists continues to grow each year. “The Edremit Gulf and the Northern Aegean are becoming increasingly accessible and attractive,” he said.
Strategic Location with Wide Service Coverage
Çetin also reminded that Balıkesir Kocaseyit Airport, which holds international status, serves a much wider region beyond Edremit. The airport provides access to nearby cities and districts including Bursa, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Bergama, Dikili, Ayvalık, Burhaniye, Gömeç, and Havran.
“Today, Kocaseyit Airport is not only a vital hub for Edremit but also a strategic driver of regional tourism and the economy. With these developments in transport infrastructure, the Gulf area is becoming far more appealing to both domestic and international tourists,” he concluded.
