Hussein Purferzane, head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization, announced that flights from Iran to Europe will resume starting January 31, 2025. Iran’s official news agency, IRNA, reported that Purferzane made statements on the matter during a press conference.
Tehran-Paris Flights to Restart
Purferzane stated that flights to Europe will restart with the Tehran-Paris route. It was noted that this significant flight will be operated by Iran Air Tours.
EU Sanctions and Flight Cancellations
It is worth recalling that the European Union (EU) imposed sanctions on some Iranian airlines and entities on October 14, 2024, citing the transfer of drones and missiles from Iran to Russia.
Following these sanctions, Jafar Yazerlu, a spokesperson for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization, announced that Iranian airlines’ flights to Europe had been canceled. However, with the new arrangements, the resumption of flights is seen as a significant step for air travel between Iran and Europe.
New Flights and Future Plans
The process will begin with flights to Paris on January 31 and may also reactivate Iran’s other destinations in Europe. Aviation sector officials in Iran expect this development to have a positive impact on international relations and economic activities.
