First in Europe at Istanbul Airport: Simultaneous Operations on Three Runways

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that simultaneous landing and takeoff operations on three runways will commence at Istanbul Airport on April 17. This new system will be implemented for the first time in Turkey and marks a groundbreaking achievement in Europe.

Minister Uraloğlu stated that the Simultaneous Independent Triple Runway Operations would enable dynamic capacity management at Istanbul Airport. The initiative aims to reduce operational delays, enhance fuel efficiency, and improve flight performance.

Increased Efficiency and Capacity Management

Under the coordination of the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ), efforts are underway to facilitate simultaneous operations on three runways. Additionally, once the construction of new runways is completed, further improvements are expected in air traffic operations, including taxi times.
