A fire broke out at Latécoère’s Gimont facility, located in the Gers region of France. Thanks to the swift response of the fire brigade, the fire was brought under control in a short time, and the main production hangar was saved without damage.

Started in the Waste Area, Did Not Reach the Hangar

According to officials, the fire did not originate inside the factory but rather in the outdoor area at the rear of the facility where product waste is stored. By extinguishing the flames before they reached the production area, a major operational risk for the facility was averted.

Employees Evacuated, No Injuries

During the incident, 38 employees were quickly evacuated, and no injuries or casualties were reported. Following the fire, the factory was ventilated and temporarily shut down as a precaution.

Could Have Impacted Airbus and Boeing Production

The Latécoère facility carries out strategic manufacturing for the defence and civil aviation sectors, including:

  • Panel production for Rafale fighter jets,

  • Key structural components for the Airbus A330,

  • Aircraft doors for Boeing planes.

Thanks to the fire being contained before it reached the production area, significant disruption to this critical production chain was avoided.
