A FedEx cargo plane departing from Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, USA, was forced to make an emergency landing just minutes after takeoff when its engine caught fire. It was reported that a bird strike caused an explosion in the right engine of the Boeing 767-3S2F aircraft.
The plane, which took off around 8:00 AM, made an emergency landing at 8:07 AM, only nine minutes later, due to the engine failure. Witnesses described hearing a thunderous explosion as the plane descended, with the burning engine creating a terrifying scene.
The pilots remained calm and executed emergency procedures, landing the plane safely. Fire crews quickly intervened, bringing the flames under control in a short time.
Authorities temporarily suspended air traffic after the incident but resumed operations once the plane landed safely. It was confirmed that the entire crew evacuated without injury.
An investigation has been launched to assess the extent of the engine damage and determine the details of the incident. Security measures have been heightened at Newark Airport, and aviation officials announced additional precautions to prevent similar events in the future.
