Critical Evacuation Plan Activated for Aircraft Stranded in Iran and Iraq

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu shared the latest update with the public regarding Turkish passenger planes and their crews stranded due to conflicts in Iran and Iraq. Minister Uraloğlu stated that a total of 11 passenger aircraft remain in the region, while their crews have been evacuated to Turkey by land.

7 Aircraft Still Waiting in Iran, 4 in Iraq

According to the statement, 7 passenger planes in Iran and 4 in Iraq have not been able to leave their locations due to security risks. Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that the personnel have been successfully evacuated and mentioned ongoing logistical preparations to bring the aircraft from Iraq back to Turkey. The situation of the aircraft in Iran is being closely monitored, with the waiting period continuing.

Airspace Restrictions in the Region Affect Trade and Transportation

Uraloğlu noted that airspace closures following the Iran-Israel conflict have negatively impacted both passenger transport and commercial air traffic. Highlighting the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz as a serious threat to the regional economy and international trade, the Minister announced that alternative air corridors are being considered.

Flight Numbers Decrease Over Turkish Airspace

Due to the conflict, air traffic over Turkey has also decreased. Uraloğlu reported that daily average flights, which were about 1,600 before the crisis, dropped to 1,200 in Turkish airspace. He stressed that this decline is temporary and that all necessary measures are being taken to restore stability in aviation.

Evacuation and Rescue Efforts Continue

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure continues coordination efforts to safely return aircraft stranded in the conflict zones to Turkey. While the safety of personnel remains a priority, dynamic evacuation plans continue to be implemented based on developments in the region.
