In January 2024, Istanbul Airport once again claimed the top spot as Europe’s busiest airport, handling an average of 1,427 daily flights. According to data released by EUROCONTROL (the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation), Istanbul Airport maintained its leadership by surpassing other major airports on the continent.

EUROCONTROL data shows that following Istanbul Airport, London Heathrow ranked second with an average of 1,296 daily flights. Amsterdam Schiphol secured third place with 1,221 daily flights. Other major airports included Paris Charles de Gaulle (1,181 flights) and Madrid Barajas (1,127 flights).
