A Jet2 aircraft traveling from the United Kingdom to Turkey made an emergency landing at Budapest Airport due to an engine failure. It was reported that none of the passengers on board were injured during the incident.
On Saturday, April 26, 2025, Jet2 flight LS622 was en route from East Midlands Airport to Dalaman. While cruising at 36,000 feet, the Boeing 737-800’s crew contacted ATC (Air Traffic Control) to report a failure in engine number 1.
Two hours and 19 minutes after takeoff, the aircraft was diverted to Budapest Airport and safely landed on runway 31R. Passengers reported experiencing severe turbulence during the landing. According to a source speaking to AIRLIVE, the issue was caused by an oil leak in the left engine of the 7-year-old aircraft.
