Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has extended its shirt sponsorship agreement with Olympique Lyonnais, one of the most historic clubs in France’s Ligue 1, until the end of the 2029-2030 season. Emirates will continue to be the club’s main shirt sponsor through the end of the 2029-2030 season.
Boutros Boutros, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, Marketing & Brand, commented, “We are pleased to continue our commitment to Olympique Lyonnais, one of France’s most beloved and respected clubs. Since our partnership began in 2020, it has provided significant brand visibility for Emirates. Sharing common values such as excellence, community engagement, and a spirit of innovation, we look forward to further developing our collaboration.”
John Textor, Owner of Olympique Lyonnais and CEO of Eagle Football Group, said, “We are delighted to extend our partnership with Emirates for another five years. The trust built since 2020 will continue to create unforgettable moments for our fans through football.”
Emirates to Remain Olympique Lyonnais’ Official Main Sponsor
Under the renewed agreement, Emirates will feature its “Fly Better” logo on Olympique Lyonnais’ match and training kits across all Ligue 1 and European competition matches until June 30, 2030. The deal also provides Emirates with significant branding opportunities at Groupama Stadium, hospitality tickets, marketing rights, and social media engagement benefits.
Additionally, the airline will continue offering young fans the chance to accompany players onto the pitch before home matches. Last year, as part of this initiative, Emirates collaborated with local organizations such as The Leon Bérard Centre and Hôpital Femme Mère Enfant to provide over 23 children with an unforgettable matchday experience.
Emirates Strengthens Its Presence in France
Emirates’ sponsorship activities in France extend beyond football. The airline has also achieved notable success in the Tour de France with the UAE Team Emirates cycling team and serves as the Official Airline and Premium Partner of the prestigious Roland-Garros tennis tournament.
In 2012, Emirates became the first international carrier to launch direct flights connecting Lyon to the United Arab Emirates. The airline currently operates daily flights to Lyon using a Boeing 777 and plans to upgrade the service to the next-generation Airbus A350 starting from June 2025. Lyon has become a key hub within Emirates’ expansive network of over 140 destinations, connecting the city to some of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
