Emirates Group Sets Record in First Half of 2024-25: Pre-Tax Profit Reaches $2.8 Billion!

Emirates Group achieved a record-breaking result for the first half of the 2024-25 fiscal year, with a pre-tax profit of $2.8 billion, marking its highest-ever six-month financial performance. This achievement surpasses last year’s record, showcasing the group’s robust business strategies and success in adapting to the global market.

Financial Peak: 9.3 Billion AED in Profit

In the first half of the 2024-25 fiscal year, Emirates Group reported a net profit of 9.3 billion AED ($2.5 billion). Additionally, it maintained operational efficiency with an EBITDA of $5.6 billion, demonstrating resilience despite volatile market conditions.

Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum stated that these outstanding results reflect the success of their business model and Dubai’s increasing importance as a hub for business, tourism, and global connectivity. Sheikh Ahmed emphasized that “these strong results enable investments that will drive future growth,” with substantial commitments in customer experience, technology, and workforce development.

Robust Growth and Network Expansion in Global Aviation

In the first half of 2024-25, Emirates strengthened its global presence by increasing flight frequencies to eight key destinations. With new routes to under-served markets like Phnom Penh, Bogotá, and Madagascar, Emirates expanded access. Its growing network now serves 148 airports across 80 countries, reinforcing its position as a global carrier. Additionally, seven new codeshare and partnership agreements provided customers with more connections and flexibility.

Fleet Upgrades and Enhanced Services

As part of its $4 billion renewal program, Emirates completed upgrades on eight aircraft to align with customer expectations. The new Premium Economy class, now available on various routes, has been well-received by passengers. Additionally, the Business Class cabin offers enhanced comfort with 1-2-1 seating and personal minibars, setting a new standard in premium travel. Emirates plans to expand these services to ten new routes in the near future.

Passenger Operations: Strong Demand and Capacity Management

Emirates saw growth in passenger operations, with total capacity reaching 29.9 billion ATKMs, a 5% increase, and a 4% rise in passenger capacity. During this period, Emirates transported 26.9 million passengers, a 3% increase from the same period last year. With an 80% seat load factor, the airline demonstrated effective capacity management, providing efficient service to passengers.

Cargo Sector Growth with Emirates SkyCargo

In cargo operations, Emirates SkyCargo adapted swiftly to shifting market demands. Cargo volume increased by 16%, reaching 1,198,000 tons, driven by rising e-commerce traffic from China and shipments to Dubai, improving efficiency by 11%. The addition of new Boeing 777 and leased Boeing 747F aircraft expanded operational capacity. To meet growing cargo demand, Emirates has ordered ten additional Boeing 777 freighters, sustaining its growth in the air cargo market.

Employment and Future Investments

The group expanded its workforce by 3% in the first half, reaching 114,610 employees. Emirates and dnata continue to seek skilled talent to support their growth goals. The group is accelerating investments in new aircraft and facilities to reinforce its leadership in the aviation sector. Sheikh Ahmed highlighted the anticipated continuation of customer demand in the remaining fiscal year and stated that Emirates will focus on capacity expansion and operational flexibility to meet this demand.
