Embraer has announced the start of structural assembly for Austria’s first C-390 Millennium aircraft. This significant development took place during an official ceremony at the Gavião Peixoto production facility, attended by representatives from the Austrian government.
Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security, stated, “We are pleased to begin the production of the first aircraft for Austria and look forward to delivering it to the Austrian Air Force soon. The C-390 sets new standards as a truly multi-role medium airlift aircraft. It combines the latest technology, reliability, and low operating costs with unmatched performance.”
The Austrian Air Force has ordered four C-390s, which are already in service in Brazil, Portugal, and Hungary. Additionally, the aircraft has been ordered by the Netherlands (five units), South Korea (three units), and an undisclosed customer (two units). Sweden and Slovakia have also indicated their choice of this model but have not yet signed contracts.
