Drone Strikes Hit Kazan
According to Russian state news agencies, Kazan, located approximately 800 kilometers east of Moscow, was targeted by multiple drone strikes early in the morning. The attacks caused damage to a residential complex and other areas. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the strikes occurred in three waves between 7:40 AM and 9:20 AM local time.
Drone Neutralization and Damage Report
The Ministry of Defense provided details on the response:
- Three drones were shot down by air defense systems.
- Another three were neutralized using electronic warfare systems.
Local authorities reported no casualties from the attacks. However, the Mayor of Kazan announced on Telegram that all weekend events had been canceled, and temporary shelter arrangements were made for those evacuated.

The Baza Telegram channel, known for its connections to Russian security forces, released unverified footage showing a drone crashing into a high-rise building and creating a massive fireball.
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, condemned the attack, accusing Ukraine of channeling “helpless anger over genuine military defeats onto Russia’s peaceful civilians.”
Impact on Other Airports
Rosaviatsia also temporarily halted flights at the following airports:
- Izhevsk, northeast of Kazan.
- Saratov, approximately 650 kilometers south of Kazan.
Flight restrictions were lifted later in the day for all affected airports.
