A devastating accident occurred near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, where a regional jet operated by American Airlines and a military Black Hawk helicopter collided mid-air before crashing into the Potomac River. Rescue efforts are ongoing.

A Mid-Air Collision on Wednesday Evening

The horrific incident took place at around 9:00 PM local time on Wednesday near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. A Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet, operated by PSA Airlines, collided mid-air with a Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk military helicopter.

Flight from Kansas Ends in Disaster

PSA Airlines Flight 5342 had departed from Wichita, Kansas, and was preparing to land on Runway 33 at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport when it collided with the Black Hawk helicopter. Following the impact, both aircraft plunged into the Potomac River.

Rescue Operations Continue

Emergency response teams, including DC police and fire department units, were swiftly deployed to the scene. Fire rescue boats were dispatched, and operations continued throughout the night. At the time of the crash, the commercial jet was carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, while the helicopter had three military personnel on board. No survivors or casualties have been officially reported yet.
