Following the tragic ambulance helicopter crash that occurred yesterday morning in Muğla, the wreckage removal operation was completed late at night. The ambulance helicopter, operated by the Ministry of Health, took off from the helipad of Muğla Training and Research Hospital en route to Antalya but first struck the 7th floor of the hospital due to heavy fog and then crashed onto an empty area in the hospital’s yard.
Thorough Investigation Conducted at the Crash Site
After the accident, Civil Aviation Authority Accident Investigation Teams and the Crime Scene Investigation Units of the Muğla Police Department were dispatched to the site. Teams from Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) also participated in the investigations. After detailed work by the expert teams, the helicopter wreckage was removed from the site with the help of a crane.
Wreckage Transported by Truck
During the night, the helicopter wreckage was loaded onto a truck using a crane and transported from the crash site. The accident claimed the lives of Pilot Tamer Gönül, Pilot Bayram Çiçek, Dr. Cengiz Coşkun, and EMT Selçuk Soykan.
Heavy Fog Considered the Cause of the Accident
Officials stated that the accident occurred due to heavy fog. While an official investigation into the incident continues, experts will examine the wreckage for a detailed analysis of the crash.
