Winter Storm May Have Contributed to the Crash
Authorities noted that the runway where the accident occurred had become slippery due to a severe winter storm over the weekend. Approximately 23 centimeters of snow had accumulated in the area, and runway clearing efforts were in full force.
Recent Aviation Accidents
This incident marks the most significant commercial passenger aircraft accident since January 29, when an Army Black Hawk helicopter collided with American Airlines Flight 5342 at Ronald Reagan National Airport, resulting in 67 fatalities.
