Turkey’s defense and aerospace sector achieved a record-breaking performance in October 2024, with exports rising by 61% compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of $820 million. This impressive growth is seen as an indicator of Turkey’s increasing competitive strength in the global defense and aerospace market.
Exports in the First 10 Months of 2024 Exceed $5 Billion
In the January-October period of 2024, the defense and aerospace sector registered an 18% increase compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching a total of $5.125 billion. The sector’s exports over the past 12 months also hit a new record, growing by 15% to reach $6.326 billion. These figures demonstrate the sector’s continued strong growth in global markets.
Head of Defense Industries Görgün: “We Are Strengthening in Global Markets”
The Head of the Defense Industries, Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, emphasized the importance of strategic steps to enhance the international competitiveness of Turkey’s defense industry, stating:
“One of our main goals is to establish a strong foothold in global markets with high value-added products from our defense industry. Accordingly, our sector is reaching wider geographies every year and achieving significant success. The export of products to 185 different countries in 2024 is the most concrete indicator of these achievements.”
New Targets in Defense and Aerospace Exports
Turkey’s defense and aerospace sector plans to achieve new export targets by the end of 2024 by enhancing its presence in global markets with innovative, technology-driven products. Sector representatives state that they are focusing on global partnerships and new market opportunities to further increase exports in 2025.
