A United Nations (UN) aircraft, flight number UN-684, a De Havilland Dash 8 (DH8D), made a belly landing in Mogadishu following a technical malfunction.
According to a statement by the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, the UN-operated aircraft detected a failure in its front landing gear shortly after taking off from Aden Abdulle International Airport in Mogadishu at 11:16 AM local time on Tuesday. The flight crew followed safety protocols and successfully landed back in Mogadishu at 1:28 PM.
Officials confirmed that the crew and passengers on board were safe and that a technical investigation into the incident had been initiated. Aviation authorities stated that they would examine the cause of the malfunction and take necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
