The cybersecurity of the National Combat Aircraft KAAN is being developed by Turkish engineers. Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik ve Ticaret A.Ş. (STM), in collaboration with Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), is strengthening the cybersecurity infrastructure of KAAN—one of Turkey’s largest defense projects—using domestically developed technologies.
Cybersecurity as a Priority in the KAAN Project
STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz emphasized the importance of cybersecurity in the defense industry in his statement on the project. “We are actively working on the cybersecurity of KAAN,” said Güleryüz, noting that cybersecurity for aircraft platforms is a strategic necessity. He pointed out that electronic systems, such as sensors and communication devices, could pose new threats if sufficient security measures are not in place.
Advanced Security Solutions through STM and TUSAŞ Partnership
Güleryüz highlighted that STM provides solutions like cyber defense centers and secure data centers for the Turkish Armed Forces. STM, in partnership with TUSAŞ, is developing high-level security measures for the KAAN project. He remarked, “As weapon systems and platforms become increasingly equipped with electronic systems, insufficient cybersecurity measures could lead to vulnerabilities. Therefore, cybersecurity is an indispensable requirement for projects like KAAN.” STM is conducting extensive work with TUSAŞ and other expert firms to establish a robust cybersecurity infrastructure for the KAAN project.
