Croatia Airlines celebrated its return to Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city, after an 11-year hiatus by landing in the city this week. The airline inaugurated the first of four new summer routes by operating flights between Split and Istanbul, which will be serviced three times a week until October 12th.
The inaugural outbound flight carried 77 passengers, while the inbound flight transported 31 passengers. This new development is seen as a significant step for Croatia Airlines in reestablishing its presence in the Turkish market. The airline’s last flight to Turkey’s largest city was from Zagreb in 2013. Following Split, Zagreb, and Dubrovnik, Split becomes the third Croatian city to offer direct scheduled flights to Turkey.
Croatia Airlines will announce the dates tickets for the resumed flights to Istanbul go on sale and provide flight details through its official channels. This new service is expected to strengthen mutual relations between the two countries and create new opportunities in the tourism sector.
