On a Hong Kong Airlines flight, a physical altercation broke out among passengers following the disruptive behavior of a couple traveling from Bali to Hong Kong.
According to the New York Post, as the couple deplaned, the woman and man, traveling with two small children, insulted other passengers and complained about the “speed at which they were moving.” The couple claimed they were “moving too slowly” and were deliberately bumping into people.
It was reported that passengers reacted to the couple’s behavior and got into a dispute with a crew member. In videos that were posted online but later removed, the couple was seen being cornered by an angry passenger, who yelled at them, and the man was attempted to be punched but managed to escape. The couple was also seen trying to push a flight attendant away while other passengers intervened.
According to Dimsum Daily, during the pre-flight security check, a flight attendant asked the female member of the couple to properly place her bag. The woman responded by yelling at the staff, saying, “I can put my bag wherever I want, no one can touch it,” and physically assaulted them. Other flight attendants tried to calm the situation.
The news source also stated that other passengers complained about the couple’s behavior during the flight. One passenger called them “garbage people.”
Hong Kong Airlines stated that they took necessary action against the passengers involved in the incident and emphasized their commitment to flight safety and the passenger experience. The airline added, “We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our crew and passengers and have a zero-tolerance policy for any disruptive behavior or violations of the Aviation Security Regulations.”
