A special ceremony was held at Istanbul Airport in memory of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic, marking the 86th anniversary of his passing. Passengers present at the airport for travel participated in a moment of silence at 9:05 am, honoring Atatürk.
Moment of Silence for Atatürk at Istanbul Airport
The ceremony, part of the November 10 Atatürk Commemoration events, was attended by iGA Istanbul Airport CEO Selahattin Bilgen, airport staff, and numerous passengers. The ceremony area was carefully prepared with Atatürk’s portrait and Turkish flags in the terminal building.
Gathered on the departure level of the International Terminal, personnel and passengers observed a moment of silence at 9:05 am in memory of Atatürk. Following the moment of silence, the Turkish National Anthem was sung with enthusiasm. Announcements in Turkish and English were made throughout the ceremony, allowing both local and international visitors at the airport to share in this meaningful moment.
