At Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, a passenger aboard Alaska Airlines flight 323 caused a stir by opening the plane’s emergency exit and climbing onto the wing after landing.
Around 5:00 PM on Sunday, the flight from Milwaukee had just landed in Seattle, and passengers were preparing to disembark. However, an unidentified female passenger, unwilling to wait, opened the emergency exit and made her way onto the aircraft’s wing.
A spokesperson for the Port of Seattle stated, “During the plane’s landing, a passenger became distressed and opened the emergency exit. She then climbed onto the wing.”
Emergency crews arrived quickly to remove the woman from the wing. Police crisis intervention teams subsequently determined that the passenger required medical evaluation and transported her to a hospital.
Airline Statement
Alaska Airlines confirmed the incident was resolved safely and extended an apology to the affected passengers. In a statement, the airline said, “We appreciate the swift response of our crew and airport officials. We will continue working to understand this incident and minimize disruption for our passengers.”
