An EasyJet flight from Antalya to London Gatwick was forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger attacked the cabin crew and attempted to open the plane’s door. The shocking incident resulted in the flight being diverted to Bari Airport in Italy.
Young Girl’s Outburst Sparks Crisis
According to The Sun, the incident began when another passenger started coughing. Witnesses claimed that a 16-year-old girl became agitated after a 10-year-old passenger coughed loudly, leading to her outburst.
Nineteen-year-old passenger Jernai recounted the events:
“We had gone to Turkey for a Christmas holiday and had a fantastic time. But the return journey turned into chaos. About four rows behind me, the young girl became furious at the little girl next to her, and everything spiraled out of control.”
Panic Onboard: She Attempted to Open the Door
The young girl reportedly swore at the crew members before running to the rear of the plane and attempting to open the door. Witnesses stated that she damaged the door handle and was barely restrained by the crew.
Another passenger, Nadine, said:
“The crew tried to calm her down, but she screamed and threatened to stab a crew member. She even removed her shoes and threw them at passengers.”
Emergency Landing and Police Intervention
Following the incident, the EasyJet flight was diverted to Bari Airport in Italy. The young girl was taken into custody by the police immediately after landing.

EasyJet issued the following statement regarding the incident:
“Flight EZY8556 from Antalya to London Gatwick on December 27 was diverted to Bari due to a passenger’s disruptive behavior. The aircraft was met by the police upon landing.”
