According to local authorities, at least seven people lost their lives in a plane crash on Sunday in a densely forested area of Jalisco, a state in western Mexico.

The crashed aircraft, a light Cessna 207 plane, had departed from La Parota in the neighboring state of Michoacan.

Jalisco Civil Defense Agency stated on social media that the crash site is located in a remote and hard-to-access area. The agency confirmed the deaths of seven people upon reaching the site, but the identities of the victims have not yet been determined.

Fire Brought Under Control

Authorities reported that a fire caused by the crash has been extinguished, and risk mitigation efforts are being conducted to prevent further damage.

Forensic Efforts Continue

Following the crash, forensic teams were dispatched to the area. Officials stated that work is ongoing to recover the bodies and ensure no additional victims remain undiscovered.
