CEO Change at Sabiha Gökçen Airport! Alp Er Tunga Ersoy Resigns from His Position

Alp Er Tunga Ersoy, who assumed the role of CEO at Sabiha Gökçen Airport in June 2024, has resigned from his position. Announcing his resignation through a written statement, Ersoy said:

“I started this role with great excitement and satisfaction, striving to contribute with the belief that Sabiha Gökçen Airport deserves more. However, as of today, I am stepping down from my position. I would like to thank all my colleagues, stakeholders, and managers for their support and camaraderie. I extend my special thanks to our Civil Administrative Chief, Mr. Halil Avşar, and HEAŞ General Manager, Mr. Faruk Kacır, for their support during this process.”

Statement from the Airport Management

In an official statement from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, it was noted that the departure occurred through mutual agreement. The statement read:

“We have mutually agreed to part ways with Alp Er Tunga Ersoy, who served as the CEO of Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, Turkey’s second-largest airport. We thank him for his contributions and wish him success in his future endeavors.”

The statement also mentioned that until a new CEO is appointed, operations will be managed by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) and the ISG Management Committee, the airport’s operating entity.

“We will continue to carry out our operations without interruption and welcome our guests in the best way possible. Respectfully announced to the public.”

Who is Alp Er Tunga Ersoy?

With 24 years of experience in the aviation sector, Alp Er Tunga Ersoy began his career in 1999 as a Terminal Duty Officer. Over the years, he has held various roles, including:

  • Terminal Duty Manager,
  • Airport Manager,
  • Deputy General Manager Responsible for Operations,
  • General Manager.

Ersoy achieved significant success in managing international airport operations. He served as an airport manager in countries such as Georgia, North Macedonia, and Kazakhstan, gaining global experience in the aviation sector. Ersoy oversaw the commissioning of a new international terminal at Almaty Airport and specialized in areas such as digitization in airport operations, enhancing customer satisfaction, and improving operational processes.

He completed his education at Dokuz Eylül University in Tourism and Hospitality, Anadolu University Faculty of Business, and the Professional Aviation MBA program at Austria’s Danube University. Ersoy is recognized as a respected figure in the industry.
