Çelebi Aviation Receives IATA’s Enhanced Ground Support Equipment Certification

Çelebi Aviation has enhanced safety in aircraft operations, earning IATA’s “Enhanced Ground Support Equipment Certification” at 17 stations. This achievement raises safety standards, setting a new benchmark in the industry.

Çelebi Aviation has once again demonstrated its leadership in safety by receiving the “Enhanced Ground Support Equipment Certification” awarded by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The company successfully achieved this certification across 17 stations globally, leveraging equipment equipped with collision avoidance systems to elevate operational safety to the highest level.

Over 65 Years of Experience and Investment in Innovative Technology

Operating across three continents, six countries, and 70 stations, Çelebi Aviation continues to invest in innovative technologies aimed at enhancing operational safety.

In 2019, IATA recommended the inclusion of collision avoidance systems in ground support equipment used near aircraft. Çelebi Aviation took this standard a step further by integrating these systems into its existing equipment that same year. The company continues to equip its entire fleet with this safety technology through regular annual upgrades.

Pioneering Safety with Collision Avoidance Systems

IATA’s Enhanced Ground Support Equipment Certification Program, launched in 2024, mandates the presence of collision avoidance systems in ground support equipment to reduce the risk of aircraft damage by at least 20%.

To date, Çelebi Aviation has successfully obtained this certification at 17 stations, setting an example for the industry. Collision avoidance systems not only automatically reduce equipment speed when approaching aircraft but also halt the equipment at critical distances, ensuring maximum operational safety.

Statements from Çelebi Aviation Leaders

Dave Dorner, CEO of Çelebi Aviation Group, commented on this achievement:
“Safety has always been our top priority at Çelebi Aviation. Through investments in ground service equipment and the efforts of our expert technical team, we have aligned with IATA’s Enhanced Ground Support Equipment Certification Program. This step will also contribute to raising safety standards across the industry.”

Nick Careen, IATA’s Senior Vice President of Operations, Safety, and Security, added:
“We congratulate Çelebi Aviation. By earning this certification at 17 stations, the company has set an example by swiftly implementing collision avoidance technologies. This groundbreaking approach opens a new era in apron safety.”
