Çelebi Aviation, one of the leading global companies in ground handling and cargo logistics, has officially commenced operations at the newly constructed cargo terminal at Kualanamu International Airport (KNO) in Indonesia. This development marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy in Southeast Asia.
The new terminal spans 8,000 square metres and handled 58,000 tonnes of cargo operations in 2024 alone. Equipped with cold chain facilities, hazardous materials handling capabilities, and infrastructure that meets international standards, the facility brings Çelebi Aviation’s service excellence to the region.
Infrastructure Equipped with Modern Technology
The terminal is outfitted with digital tools such as an advanced Warehouse Management System (WMS), e-AWB, barcode scanners, AI-supported customer service, and real-time tracking systems. High-level operational security is ensured through features such as CCTV, X-ray and ETD scanners, and biometric access control.
Support for Regional and Global Airlines
The Kualanamu Cargo Terminal will support the cargo operations of a broad portfolio of airlines, including Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, Lion Air Group, Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Saudia, AirAsia Group, and Susi Air.
In the initial phase, operations will be largely conducted with local talent. To maintain international quality standards, Çelebi Aviation has also launched a comprehensive training and development programme.
A Strategic Position in Logistics
Located in Medan (North Sumatra), Kualanamu International Airport plays a critical role in the export of regional goods, particularly in the fisheries, agriculture, and plantation sectors. With the launch of the new terminal, Sumatra is expected to emerge as a regional logistics hub.
