An important incident occurred during Ryanair’s FR-4038 flight from Dublin to Milan Bergamo Airport, operated by the Ireland-based low-cost airline.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft was reported to have encountered trouble as it began its descent into Bergamo, when the captain started feeling unwell and soon became unresponsive. Upon noticing the situation, the first officer immediately took control of the aircraft and initiated safe flight procedures.
After performing several holding maneuvers to ensure safety, the first officer safely landed the aircraft on Runway 28 at Bergamo Airport within approximately 30 minutes. Medical teams, who were on standby, provided immediate assistance to the captain pilot after the aircraft came to a complete stop on the runway.
Due to the incident, Bergamo Airport was closed to air traffic for about 50 minutes, leading to some flights being diverted to other airports.
Ryanair officials stated that procedures concerning the captain’s health condition are ongoing and emphasized that the safety of passengers remains their top priority.
