Following turbulence on a Singapore Airlines flight, some injured passengers have been discharged, while 20 remain in intensive care, and a British woman has been reported paralyzed.
Details of the Incident
The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, on its London to Singapore route, encountered turbulence resulting in the death of one passenger and injuries to 41 others. The injured passengers were treated in Bangkok, Thailand, where the emergency landing took place. Among them, 20 are in intensive care, and one passenger has been paralyzed from the waist down.

Injured British Woman
British national and dance instructor Kerry Jordan suffered severe injuries after being thrown into the overhead compartments and then onto the aisle due to the turbulence. Her husband, Keith Davis, stated that she remained immobile in the aisle until the plane landed. It was reported that 22 individuals sustained spinal injuries, and 6 others are being treated for head traumas. While some injured passengers have been discharged, those with spinal injuries are expected to remain in the hospital for several more weeks.
New Safety Policy from Singapore Airlines
In response to the incident, Singapore Airlines has decided to implement a “stricter seatbelt” policy. The airline announced that meal service will be suspended when the “seatbelt” sign is on, and passengers will receive more stringent warnings to keep their seatbelts fastened. Additionally, the airline has been rerouting flights to avoid regions where turbulence has been reported.
