The town of Corozal in Belize was rocked this morning by a shocking incident. A small passenger aircraft operated by Tropic Air, preparing to depart from Corozal Airport to San Pedro, was the target of a hijacking attempt by a knife-wielding assailant, whose identity has not yet been disclosed.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred in the early morning hours. Eyewitnesses described spotting an individual with visible injuries and a bloodied face. After taking control of the aircraft, the attacker managed to take off and circled over the Belize District for a period of time. Panic ensued onboard among the 13 passengers and one infant, with reports stating that one passenger was stabbed and is in critical condition.
Chaos at the Airport: All Flights Cancelled
Following the incident, all flights at Corozal Airport were suspended. Security forces quickly responded to the scene, and the attacker was neutralised by police. A large security cordon was established around the airport within minutes.

Footage of the terrifying moments soon emerged on social media, capturing the panic among passengers and the moment the attacker was subdued. Passengers were safely evacuated, although it has been reported that at least one other person sustained injuries.
