Two passengers on a private airline flight from Islamabad to Karachi were detained by authorities on Tuesday after making a joke about a “bomb” to a flight attendant, triggering a security alert.
Security Crisis During the Flight
The Airports Security Force (ASF) stopped the plane and subjected all passengers to thorough searches. Following the incident, the flight was delayed by 3.5 hours. The passengers, who were friends, claimed the situation was merely a joke.
Similar Incidents Lead to Serious Consequences Internationally
In a similar case, a British passenger flying to Menorca faced a potential fine of $24,500 after joking about “blowing up the plane” in a Snapchat message. Despite calling it a joke, Spanish fighter jets were scrambled in response.
