U.S.-based aviation giant Boeing has announced plans to cut its workforce by 10%, starting with the dismissal of 2,199 employees in December. The decision was formalized through an official notification to Washington State’s Employment Security Department.
Cost-Cutting Measures in Effect
Following a September factory worker strike, Boeing introduced several measures to reduce expenses:
- Hiring freezes were implemented,
- Non-essential expenditures were suspended,
- Workforce reductions were announced.
In October, the company officially revealed its plan to downsize its total workforce by 10%.
Thousands of Employees Affected
According to U.S. media reports, the layoffs will not be limited to the initial 2,200 employees. This decision, expected to impact 17,000 workers in total, could have widespread implications across various areas of Boeing’s operations.
