The Saudi Arabia-based Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner landed at Istanbul Airport today as part of its certification and test flights. This special aircraft, with tail number HZ-RXX and a pearl-coloured livery, is the first Dreamliner in Riyadh Air’s fleet.

Departing from Riyadh, the aircraft arrived in Istanbul to test its technical and operational performance under various conditions. Known for its wide-body design, enhanced fuel efficiency, and long-range capabilities, the Dreamliner exemplifies Boeing’s commitment to advancing aviation standards.

A New Milestone for Riyadh Air

With this aircraft, Riyadh Air takes its first step towards expanding its fleet, marking an important milestone in its collaboration with the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) for obtaining an Air Operator Certificate (AOC). The aircraft will be used for pilot and crew training in the coming months, serving as a resource for spare parts and training equipment until the airline’s operational launch in 2025.

This Dreamliner is part of Riyadh Air’s order of 72 Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Once the operational preparation phase is complete, the airline aims to expand its network and provide seamless operations with this aircraft model.
