World’s Longest Flight: China Eastern Airlines Launches 29-Hour Shanghai–Buenos Aires Service
China Eastern Airlines, one of China’s national carriers, is set to launch the world’s longest commercial flight in December 2025. Covering a total distance of 19,681 kilometres and lasting between 25 and 29 hours, the Shanghai–Buenos Aires route will make aviation history.
The new service will operate twice weekly with Boeing 777 aircraft. A technical stopover will be made in Auckland, New Zealand, but as passengers will not disembark or change seats, the route is classified under international standards as a “single-leg direct flight.”
