BoA in Crisis: Planes Under Maintenance, Delays Increasing!

Bolivia’s national airline, Boliviana de Aviación (BoA), has been in the spotlight recently due to flight delays and various operational issues. Complaints from passengers have increased, prompting the government to decide on a leadership change.

Public Works and Housing Minister Edgar Montaño stated on Saturday that 21 BoA planes are currently in operation in the country, but not all of them are functioning at full capacity. He explained that some aircraft are temporarily out of service due to maintenance, adding, “Periodic maintenance is carried out according to flight schedules.”

Due to operational disruptions and delays, BoA’s CEO Ronald Casso was dismissed from his position, and Mario Borda was appointed in his place. Montaño noted that after the leadership change on February 7, there has been an improvement in service quality, stating, “Since we took over, our flagship airline has developed, delays have decreased, and aircraft maintenance has become more regular.”

Authorities announced that the new BoA management will introduce new measures in the coming days to enhance passenger satisfaction. Montaño also emphasized that “currently, 17 airlines are operating in Bolivia, and anyone interested can join the aviation sector,” highlighting the open competition in the industry.
