Another space mission has made history in the United States. The Blue Ghost spacecraft, launched on 15 January by NASA and private aerospace company Firefly Aerospace, successfully landed on the Moon’s surface today at 11:34 AM Turkish time.
The Second Private Moon Mission in History
This operation marks the second Moon mission carried out by a private company, conducted from the space centre in Texas. After orbiting the Moon for nearly two weeks, Blue Ghost’s landing sparked great excitement in the scientific community.
“You Did It, We’re on the Moon!”
During the operation, an on-duty engineer announced the successful landing with the words, “You did it, we’re on the Moon!” Firefly Aerospace entered the history books as the first private company to complete a fully successful Moon landing.
Paving the Way for Future Space Missions
This historic achievement strengthens the role of the private sector in space exploration and is seen as a significant step for future space missions. The operation, carried out in collaboration between NASA and Firefly Aerospace, is expected to accelerate scientific research on the Moon.
