In Kazakhstan, the black box of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane allegedly struck by a Russian Pantsir-S1 air defense system has been examined. The results, analyzed at a Brazilian Air Force laboratory, have been handed over to Kazakh authorities.
Black Box Examination in Brazil
Flight data from the Embraer 190 passenger aircraft, manufactured in Brazil and operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, was meticulously analyzed by the Brazilian Air Force. On Monday, it was announced that the findings had been sent to Kazakhstan to shed light on the crash’s causes.
Aliyev’s Accusation: “We Don’t Believe It Was Accidental”
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev issued strong accusations regarding the incident, claiming the aircraft may have been struck by the Russian Pantsir-S air defense system. Aliyev stated, “This event constitutes a violation of international legal principles. The possibility of the crash being caused by Russian missile systems must be investigated with precision.”
Following Aliyev’s remarks, Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly called Aliyev to apologize. However, Russian officials have yet to issue an official statement.
