Bird Alert on Turkish Airlines Flight! Bird Hit Engine, Emergency Landing
A Turkish Airlines (THY) flight, numbered TK-713, was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after take-off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The incident occurred due to a malfunction caused by a bird strike to the aircraft’s second engine.
According to a statement from THY’s Dhaka team, the aircraft, which took off at 07:00 in the morning carrying 290 passengers, encountered a bird strike shortly after departure, affecting the second engine and triggering emergency protocols.
Airport sources reported that, following the bird strike, the captain noticed signs of fire in the affected engine and performed a fuel dumping manoeuvre in the air to ensure a safe landing. The aircraft successfully landed at 08:15, preventing any potential danger.
THY officials confirmed that there were no injuries or fatalities. “We are pleased to report that all passengers, crew, and the aircraft are safe. However, repairing the technical damage to the aircraft may take some time,” the airline stated.
The aircraft was temporarily taken out of service due to the engine damage, and Turkish Airlines engineering teams have launched a technical investigation into the incident.
