A Bering Air Cessna Caravan passenger plane carrying a pilot and nine passengers has gone missing in Alaska. The last signal from the aircraft was received 38 minutes after takeoff, over the sea.
Lost from Radar, Search Operations Underway
The Alaska Department of Public Safety announced that the small passenger plane took off from Unalakleet en route to Nome but disappeared from radar. According to flight data, the aircraft last transmitted a signal at 2:38 PM local time.
Severe Weather Conditions Hampering Search Efforts
Extensive search operations have been launched in the air, on land, and at sea to locate the missing plane. However, the Nome Volunteer Fire Department stated on social media that adverse weather conditions are significantly limiting the search efforts.
