Another milestone has been reached in Turkey’s domestic and national UAV technology. The Bayraktar TB3 UAV continues its ammunition integration tests as part of its development process for takeoff and landing capability on short-runway ships.
Taking off from Muğla’s Dalaman district with the İHA-122 Supersonic Missile developed by Roketsan, Bayraktar TB3 successfully hit a 6×6 meter target from a distance of 50 kilometers in its first trial. The laser targeting task for the firing test was carried out by Bayraktar TB2. This coordinated aerial operation successfully tested the laser marking and target engagement capabilities of both UAVs.
Bayraktar TB3 Makes History with Landmark Flights
Developed nationally and independently by Baykar, the Bayraktar TB3 made history in global aviation by taking off from the short runway of TCG Anadolu on November 19, 2024. During a 46-minute test flight, TB3 successfully landed without any landing support equipment, marking a significant step in the global defense industry.
Continuing its test flights to enhance operational capabilities on naval platforms, Bayraktar TB3 successfully completed two additional takeoff and landing tests aboard the TCG Anadolu, which was sailing off the coast of Çanakkale.
Passed High-Altitude Test with a Domestic Engine
On June 25, 2024, during a test flight conducted at Baykar Flight Training and Test Center in Keşan, Edirne, Bayraktar TB3 reached an altitude of 36,310 feet, successfully completing its high-altitude system performance test. Powered by the domestically developed PD-170 engine by TEI, TB3 passed this critical test phase, further advancing its operational capabilities.
Proven Power in the Sky with 967 Hours of Flight Time
With a total of 967 hours and 55 minutes of flight time during test flights, Bayraktar TB3 achieved a remarkable milestone. During a long-duration flight test conducted on December 20, 2023, it remained airborne for 32 consecutive hours, covering a distance of 5,700 kilometers.
Opening the doors to a new era in the defense industry, Bayraktar TB3 will continue its development process with further ammunition and payload integration tests.
