Bayraktar TB2 has surpassed 1 million flight hours, solidifying Turkey’s defense industry’s global success. Baykar, with the Bayraktar TB2, now controls 65% of the UAV market, while the development of the Bayraktar TB3 also draws attention.
Baykar, one of Turkey’s leading defense companies, announced that its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Bayraktar TB2 has successfully exceeded 1 million flight hours. Since entering service in 2014, Bayraktar TB2 has become the first domestic combat aircraft to surpass 1 million flight hours in the past 10 years, marking a major achievement as Turkey’s longest-serving national air platform.
Baykar stated that Bayraktar TB2 has been preferred by many countries worldwide due to its advanced technology, cost-effectiveness, and proven field performance. The company also highlighted its success in the global UAV export market, surpassing American, Israeli, and Chinese competitors, achieving a 65% market share for Turkey in UAV exports.
Baykar’s Export Success and Global Rise
Since beginning its UAV R&D process in 2003, Baykar has developed all of its projects using its own resources. In 2023, Baykar achieved $1.8 billion in exports, placing it among the top 10 exporters in Turkey. In recent years, more than 90% of Baykar’s revenue has come from exports, making it a leader in defense and aviation exports.
Bayraktar TB2 has reached a global user base through export agreements with 34 countries. With a recent deal with Croatia, as of November 2024, Bayraktar TB2 has joined the inventories of six NATO member countries and four European Union member countries.

Bayraktar TB3 and Next-Generation Developments
Baykar is also developing a new UAV, Bayraktar TB3, which stands out for its ability to land on short-deck carriers and operate on amphibious ships like TCG Anadolu. Bayraktar TB3 has further proven its capabilities with successful take-off and landing tests from a carrier.
Bayraktar TB2’s Technological Superiority and Global Successes
Used by the Turkish Armed Forces, Gendarmerie, General Directorate of Security, and National Intelligence Organization (MIT), Bayraktar TB2 has played a significant role in counter-terrorism operations since 2014. With its technical features and operational success, Bayraktar TB2 is considered one of the most effective UAVs in the world.
