Baykar has signed a cooperation agreement with the Indonesian defense company Republikorp to establish a joint UAV factory.

The agreement between Baykar and the Indonesian defense giant Republikorp was announced after bilateral meetings between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. As part of Erdoğan’s official visit, a total of 12 memorandums of understanding were signed between the two countries, covering areas such as energy, agriculture, trade, defense industry, communications, and education.

This acquisition includes the transfer of Piaggio Aero Industries and Piaggio Aviation to Baykar, aiming to advance UAV systems and next-generation aerospace technologies.

Baykar, the world’s leading exporter of UAVs and armed drones, made headlines across European media with its acquisition of Piaggio Aerospace. The Italian government’s Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy officially approved the critical transaction on December 27, 2024.

In an official statement from Piaggio Aerospace, the acquisition process was managed by Extraordinary Commissioners Carmelo Cosentino, Vincenzo Nicastro, and Gianpaolo Davide Rossetti, with legal consultancy from the BonelliErede law firm. Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar oversaw the process with the support of the Gianni & Origoni law firm.
