Baykar’s General Manager Haluk Bayraktar announced a historic step for Turkey’s aerospace industry. Bayraktar revealed that Piaggio Aerospace, a company with a 140-year legacy, has joined Baykar, emphasizing that this strategic move will not only enhance Baykar’s production capacity but also bolster Turkey’s aerospace presence in Europe.

Piaggio Aerospace: A Heritage Name in Aviation
Founded in 1884, Piaggio Aerospace is considered one of the oldest aircraft manufacturers in the world. Based in Villanova d’Albenga, Italy, the company specializes in the design, development, and production of aircraft, aircraft engines, and aviation components.
Piaggio Aerospace produced its first aircraft in 1915 and is particularly renowned for its original designs such as the P.136 seaplane, the P.149 training aircraft, and the P.166 utility aircraft. In the 1960s, the company became a prominent player in aviation with its jet engine production and later developed the P.180 Avanti business jet in the 1980s.
However, after entering bankruptcy proceedings in 2018, Piaggio Aerospace is now embarking on a robust restructuring process supported by Baykar.
