AZAL Suspends Flights on Two Key Routes

Following the crash of an Embraer ERJ-190 aircraft in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) announced the indefinite suspension of flights on two key routes. According to the company’s statement, Baku-Grozny and Baku-Makhachkala flights will not operate until further notice.

Sequence of Events: From Grozny to Aktau

The plane, which departed from Baku and was scheduled to land in Grozny, was redirected due to unfavorable weather conditions. While attempting to divert first to Makhachkala and then to Aktau Airport, the aircraft crashed.

Mid-Air Attack Allegations Surface

Recent footage related to the incident has raised the possibility that the plane may have been attacked mid-air. Among the claims are suggestions that the aircraft was damaged by shrapnel from drones or rockets launched to intercept them.

Awaiting Official Statements

Post-crash statements have highlighted uncertainties surrounding the changes in the flight’s route and the cause of the crash. However, Azerbaijan Airlines has not provided detailed information about the incident’s background. The investigation’s completion is expected to shed light on the matter.
