Saudi Arabia-based global aircraft leasing company AviLease has signed a significant agreement with Airbus, placing its first order for 10 next-generation A350F freighter aircraft and 30 A320neo Family passenger planes. Announced at Paris Air Show 2025, this strategic partnership aims to bolster AviLease’s position in the global market.
The agreement also includes the potential to expand the order to 22 A350F and 55 A320neo aircraft in the future. This order signals AviLease’s fleet transformation strategy focused on high efficiency and low emissions in both cargo and passenger segments.
AviLease: “Strengthening Global Fleets with Next-Generation Aircraft”
Edward O’Byrne, CEO of AviLease, emphasized the importance of the partnership with Airbus:
“Our strategic alliance with Airbus propels us further as a globally investable aircraft lessor. We are proud to offer more modern and environmentally friendly fleet solutions to our customers in Saudi Arabia and worldwide with these next-generation aircraft. We look forward to delivering these planes to our valued client portfolio.”
Airbus: “Proud to Welcome AviLease to Our Family”
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Commercial Aircraft Sales Vice President, commented on AviLease’s dual order:
“This comprehensive order from AviLease for A350F and A320neo Family aircraft showcases their strong potential in the leasing market. While the A320neo remains the world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft, the A350F will set new standards in air cargo. This order clearly demonstrates the attractiveness of our product portfolio to airlines and leasing companies.”
A350F: A New Era in Cargo Aviation
The next-generation Airbus A350F stands out with the largest main deck cargo door on the market. Made of 70% composite materials, the aircraft offers a takeoff weight 46 tons lighter than its competitors. The A350F is also the first and only freighter to meet ICAO’s 2027 CO₂ emission standards.
A320neo: The Favorite of Global Passenger Fleets
The 30 A320neo Family aircraft ordered by AviLease are known for low fuel consumption and operational efficiency. Featuring new-generation engine technologies, Sharklet wing tips, and cabin efficiency solutions, these planes deliver up to 20% fuel savings.
Airbus Fleet Strength: A Green Future for the Leasing Sector
Like all Airbus aircraft, both the A350F and A320neo models can currently operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus aims for all its aircraft to be 100% SAF compatible by 2030.
