Pobeda, Russia’s low-cost airline, has achieved a significant milestone in the aviation industry by becoming the first airline to employ a humanoid robot as a flight attendant. The robot, named “Volodya,” was officially introduced on 12 November at Ulyanovsk Airport.
Volodya served on a flight operating the Ulyanovsk–Moscow route, conveying safety procedures and interacting with passengers throughout the journey. The trial flight was reported to have been completed successfully, with the robot delivering the safety briefing flawlessly and in full. The robot provided detailed explanations on how to use emergency equipment and carried out all pre-flight passenger education steps without omission.

After take-off, Volodya did not participate in the food and beverage service, but its presence enriched the overall passenger experience. Airline officials stated that passengers showed great interest in the robot, with both children and adults lining up to take photos.
Pobeda Airlines anticipates that robot flight attendants could become an integral part of future aviation operations. The company emphasises that robots can primarily support human cabin crews with routine and repetitive tasks while also offering passengers a “new interaction experience.”
