ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol made significant announcements regarding the company’s 2024 export targets, new investments, and critical defense projects during the Global Strategy Conference on Defense and Aviation Industries.
$50 Million Investment and a New Factory from ASELSAN
To expand its radar production capacity, ASELSAN has launched a new factory with a $50 million investment and laid the foundation for another. Akyol stated, “We are at the forefront of AESA radar technology worldwide. We utilize this technology in air defense, aircraft nose radars, and naval radars. We are strengthening domestic production through collaborations with universities.”
ASELFLIR 500: A Response to Embargoes, Exported to 16 Countries!
The domestically developed ASELFLIR 500, ASELSAN’s indigenous UAV camera, has achieved remarkable export success in a short time. Akyol noted, “Last year, we faced challenges due to embargoes on UAV cameras. In response, we developed a system that outperforms its foreign counterparts by 30%. Within just one year, we exported it to 16 countries and moved into high-volume production.”
$1 Billion Deal, Exports to 92 Countries!
In 2024, ASELSAN signed contracts worth over $1 billion. The company’s total export volume has reached 92 countries, with the ASELSAN flag now physically flying in 21 nations.
Akyol emphasized, “With an export value reaching $2,400 per kilogram, we will continue to elevate the Turkish defense industry to the highest global level.”
New Electronic Warfare System for UAVs: ANTIDOT
ASELSAN has developed “ANTIDOT,” an electronic warfare pod system for UAVs. This system will detect enemy air defense radars from long distances, providing UAVs with enhanced protection.
Akyol concluded, “At ASELSAN, we are not only producing domestic solutions but also aiming for global leadership,” underlining Turkey’s strategic position in the defense industry.
