Turkey’s defence electronics giant ASELSAN continues its efforts to strengthen cooperation in the defence industry with the Saudi Arabia-based National Company for Mechanical Systems (NCMS).
The two parties met in Riyadh to review ongoing projects and assess potential new areas of partnership.
The meeting was attended by ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol and NCMS CEO Ali Al Ashban. Following the discussions, Akyol stated:
“As ASELSAN, we are taking firm steps towards establishing strong, sustainable, and mutually trustworthy global partnerships.”
A New Era in Strategic Partnership
NCMS CEO Ali Al Ashban highlighted the strategic importance of the projects carried out with ASELSAN in line with the company’s goal of enhancing its technological capabilities and strengthening the domestic defence industry.
In a statement by NCMS, it was reported that the meeting was “productive” and that both parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in new business development opportunities.
History of Cooperation and Joint Projects
The cooperation between ASELSAN and NCMS was formalised two years ago through the signing of a strategic agreement.
Within this framework, joint efforts are being carried out to localise electro-optical surveillance systems, targeting equipment, guidance kits, and precision munitions used in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) exported by Baykar Technologies.
These projects aim both to enhance Turkey’s defence industry export capacity and to support Saudi Arabia’s localisation goals in defence systems.
Momentum in Turkish–Saudi Defence Cooperation
This recent meeting in Riyadh is regarded as an indicator of the growing momentum in defence industry cooperation between the two countries.
Experts agree that such partnerships are of great importance in terms of technology transfer, the development of production capacity, and sustainable growth in the defence industry.
