Antonov Regains Air Transport License

“Antonov has regained its air transport license following its transformation into a joint-stock company. JSC Antonov continues to lead in heavy and oversized cargo transportation globally.”

The Ukrainian aviation industry has reached a significant milestone as Antonov, globally renowned for its expertise in super-heavy and oversized cargo transportation, regained its air transport license following its transformation from a state-owned enterprise to a joint-stock company.

Now operating under the name JSC Antonov, the company has completed its legal restructuring and formalized its license under Ukraine’s State Aviation Service Registry. This transition marks a new chapter not only in Antonov’s organizational structure but also in its position within the global aviation market.

License Formalization

On September 27, 2024, JSC Antonov received a permanent commercial air transport license under Order No. 728. The license encompasses a broad range of operations, including passenger transport, hazardous cargo handling, and waste management.

Commenting on the licensing process, Maksym Sanotskyi, Deputy General Manager, stated that obtaining a new license post-restructuring was mandatory under Ukrainian law. The license previously held by SE Antonov could not be transferred to JSC Antonov as the legal successor, necessitating its reissuance.

Antonov’s Strategic Role and Operations

Despite the structural transition, Antonov Airlines continues its operations seamlessly, focusing on critical areas such as:

  • Heavy and oversized cargo transportation
  • Space missions
  • Government projects
  • Peacekeeping operations

The company’s expertise in developing customized solutions for non-standard and large-scale cargo transportation remains unmatched. Antonov operates its unique fleet exclusively through Antonov Airlines, further solidifying its niche in the aviation industry.

Legal Restructuring and Global Goals

Antonov’s transformation into a joint-stock company is not only a compliance measure with Ukrainian legal requirements but also a strategic move to bolster its competitiveness in the international aviation market. The new corporate structure is expected to enable greater agility, foster new partnerships, and open up market opportunities.
