Antalya, Turkey’s tourism capital, has ushered in a new era in international aviation with its newly renovated airport. The first phase of the €850 million investment, carried out through a joint venture between TAV Airports and Fraport, has been completed, significantly enhancing the airport’s capacity and passenger experience.
T2 International Terminal Welcomes Its First Guests
The renovated T2 international terminal welcomed its first passengers with SunExpress flight XQ301 arriving from Ercan. Passengers were greeted with flowers and gifts, while the new architectural design and technological infrastructure of the terminal received widespread acclaim.
Passenger Capacity to Exceed 80 Million
With the terminal expansion project, the T2 international terminal has grown to 225,000 square metres, while the domestic terminal now spans 75,000 square metres. Commercial areas have tripled in size, and the apron has been extended by 1.4 million square metres. The number of aircraft parking stands has reached 202.
ATÜ Duty-Free Opens with New Concepts
ATÜ Duty-Free, a partnership between TAV Airports and Unifree Duty Free/Gebr. Heinemann, has launched new stores in the T2 terminal. Spanning 12,000 square metres, ATÜ features an “Old Bazaar” concept, offering passengers a variety of local products and designs.
New Level of Comfort in Passenger Lounges
Comfort, Elite, and Premium lounges, designed to meet passenger expectations, are now in service. With spacious seating areas, international cuisine, games rooms, and massage facilities, the Premium Lounge stands out with its private entrance, personal chef, and tarmac transfer service.
A Green Airport with LEED Gold Certification
The expansion projects have been nominated for LEED Gold certification in line with environmental sustainability goals. A 4 MW solar power plant has also been established to boost energy efficiency. Antalya Airport has achieved Level 3+ Carbon Neutral status under the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme.
38 Million Passengers in 2024
As of 2024, Antalya Airport has hosted 105 airlines flying to 229 destinations across 52 countries. Serving a total of 38.3 million passengers, it marked the busiest year in its history.
Investments to Continue Until 2051
The operation period for TAV and Fraport has been extended until the end of 2051. For the 25-year period starting from December 2026, a total lease payment of €7.25 billion + VAT is planned. A quarter of this amount has been paid upfront to the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI).
